Ibero-American Writers in the Era of Globalization will bring together prominent literary voices from Spain and Ibero-America to debate such topics as Violence and Literature in Latin America, Literature and Cinema, and Writing and Publishing in the Era of Globalization. Invited authors will deliver lectures, and discuss their place and role as artists and intellectuals in post-national and globalized contexts. The fact that so many different countries are represented will allow several social and cultural issues crucial to contemporary Spain and Latin America, such as the relationship between cities, violence, sexuality, disease, the body, and migration, to be addressed from disparate national and cultural perspectives. Additional scheduled activities include graduate student panels focusing on the works of these writers, showings of Latin American films, and outreach to the local Madison community.
